Building a Resilient Community

Understanding the needs of our community, KALOʻs main focus was to uplift cultural identity and recognize the needs of our community. So many of our community lack a sense of belonging because we do not see ourselves in the spaces that surround us today. Cultural identity means having a place where culture is practiced daily. Culture isnʻt just hula and mele, it is the values that our kupuna have instilled in our families for generations. Living in the diaspora we found that many of our Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities yearn for a place to just be. A place where WE can be US and that is where the AloHa Resource & Community Center and our Kalo Māla was created.
